Community Library

The EMW Community Library is a curated collection of books and media that highlights the narratives of marginalized peoples (especially people of color), confronts the problems of oppression through an intersectional lens, and seeks to create a just, liberated world. The Community Library is a project funded by the Forward Fund, a program that reinvests development funds generated in the Kendall Square Urban Renewal Area to fund pilot projects by non-profit organizations, community groups, and small businesses across the City of Cambridge.

"I’ve always been a huge admirer and supporter of the work that EMW does.

It’s really an extraordinary thing, because as y’all know, for people who roam around this area…there’s so little that’s left of what we would call the ‘human-scale’ of Cambridge. And for me, this is the kind of institution, the kind of space, that one would have always dreamed would’ve been much more prevalent in Cambridge. It’s a space that’s the materialization of the hope and love that a community has for its own community. This to me is, perhaps, the greatest artifact of love that one can produce."
